The mother of 4 children, TERRY applies her talents and imagination in the world of luxury products. After refining her ingenuity, creative spirit and expertise for 20 years in collaboration with the greatest names in fashion and beauty, in 1998, TERRY launched the passionate adventure of her own signature label, BY TERRY.
Growing up in a family of scientists, it was natural for her to begin her studies at medical school, but she abandoned that for the world of art and creation.
She decided to pursue university-level art studies, but first, rather by curiosity and as a challenge, she took the very prestigious courses in aesthetics taught by the Carita sisters, Maria and Rosy. That summer session was the turning point of her life, where TERRY assembled the elements that would become her life work.
Through another unexpected stroke of luck, she became a Studio Makeup Artist. One day when no one else was available, Maria Carita sent her to take charge of the makeup at a photo session: not only for Vogue magazine, but the Haute-Couture issue!
Not knowing precisely what was expected of her, she went straight to the honest essentials, concentrating on what she was best at, with perfect success. “An impeccable mouth, an invisible complexion, full, separate lashes… I focus on my know-how!” says TERRY.
She became a trusted friend of the biggest names in photography, working together with Guy Bourdin, Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, Paolo Roversi, Steve Hiett, David Bailey, Dominique Isserman, Irving Penn and Bettina Rheims. She even collaborated on Sir Cecil Beaton's final session for Vogue!
In 1985, she met Yves Saint Laurent, with whom she would associate for 15 years, first as International Makeup Designer, and then as International Director of Creation and Marketing. There, she learned every aspect of the luxury products business, from creation through marketing to operations. There, she learned every aspect of "Haute Création", from business to operations. YSL was also where she developed her audacity, and studied the secrets of color.
Her brilliant observations led to the development of emblematic products like Touche Éclat and Teint Singulier, cult makeup collections that resonate with the passions of haute couture designers. Her celebrated looks have been interpreted by the greatest names in fashion images: Michael Thompson, David Seidner, Philipp Dixon, Patrick Demarchelier and Bruno Dayan. But she still feels humble when she meets artists like David Lynch!
In 2000, TERRY finished her collaboration with Yves Saint Laurent in order to devote all her time to the development of her own brand: BY TERRY. This line of makeup allows her to fully express her passions, her explorations, her infallible sense of women's needs. It is a novel beauty concept carrying her personal brand.
