How to: Keep Skin Looking Radiant During Party Season
The lead up to Christmas is notoriously the hardest time of the year to maintain our skincare regimes. Asides from the harsh winter elements, this is the season of endless parties, late nights and one-too-many tipples, a lethal combination which inevitably takes its toll on our complexions. So how to keep one’s skin looking radiant during the festive season? Our Head of Artistry Albane reveals her top tips for looking fresh-faced and healthy this month, no matter what time you make it home.
Tip 1: Cleanse your skin
After crawling home at some ungodly hour for the third time in a week, the temptation to fall headfirst into bed with a face full of makeup is at an all-time high. However, you will live to regret this when you wake up the next morning and look in the mirror to find that not only has your mascara run down your face, but even more devastating, your once clear complexion has broken out in blemishes.
“It is essential that you take off your makeup the night before to give it time to breathe and repair,” advises Albane. For a quick and easy removal, she recommends our CELLULAROSE MICELLAR WATER CLEANSER, which gently removes even the most stubborn makeup and impurities, leaving your skin cleansed and free from morning-after panda eyes.
Tip 2: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
After a champagne-fuelled evening, it is just as important to hydrate one’s skin as it is one’s body. Albane suggests using our HYDRA-ECLAT DAILY CARE aqua balm to quench skin’s thirst after a night out. Enriched with pastel rose cells, it is the perfect pick-me-up for your complexion. Follow this with the BY TERRY HYDRA-ECLAT EYE CONTOUR to relieve puffiness and fade dark circles – the tell-tale signs of a heavy night. For an added boost, add some of our CELLULAROSE LIFTESSENCE OIL ELIXIR into your foundation to prevent skin from flaking and to keep it hydrated throughout the day.
Tip 3: Go Makeup Free
The thought of going makeup-free after a heavy night might seem unthinkable to many of you, but it is a great way to restore skin’s vitality, according to Albane. “Women think that caking their face in makeup will cover up the telltale signs of a big night out, but in fact it’s usually the opposite,” she says. “When your skin is dehydrated, it cannot absorb heavy products like makeup and so it’s far better to let your skin breathe and restore itself.”
Tip 4: Opt for light coverage
If you’re not brave enough to go bare-faced, Albane advises using a light base such as our CELLULAROSE BRIGHTENING CC SERUM, which contains Vitamin E to revive dulled complexions and give them a healthy, radiant glow. When it comes to coverage, opt for something moisturising such as the TERRYBLY DENSILISS CONCEALER, which acts like a serum to diminish dark circles and bags.
Tip 5: Detox
Take the time once a week to give your skin some much-needed TLC. Albane recommends a deep cleansing routine, beginning with using our CELLULAROSE NUTRI-PURE cleanser, followed by the CELLULAROSE HYDRA-TONER, to remove fully all traces of makeup and impurities. Finish with a mask: our HYDRA-ECLAT MASK is intensely nourishing and moisturising, offering instant relief to even the most dehydrated and tired skin.
Albane’s Secret Weapon: Colour
When we’re not looking our best, our usual response is to blend into the background in the hopes that no-one will notice, when we should in fact be making a statement. “The best way to inject life and vitality back into our complexions after a night out is to apply colour,” states Albane. “A little bit of blue mascara or red lipstick with a primer or light foundation base will give your face a subtle and welcoming lift.”
