Terry de Gunzburg's home in Manhattan

A Fine Art

Terry de Gunzburg is a woman who understands beauty in all things. Her love of beautiful objects started from an early age when she bought her first piece of artwork, a ceramic plate by Pablo Picasso, at the age of 20. Terry has nurtured her passion for collecting over the years, curating important works and Art Deco furniture from all over the world. Her vast collection today reads like a who’s who of the prestigious art and design world, and her five homes (in Paris, London, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in France, Manhattan and Tel Aviv), could be confused for museums. Damien Hirst, Richard Serra, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro and Pierre Chareau are just some of the legendary artists and designers you will find in her eclectic and impeccably designed Manhattan apartment.

Terry’s ability to blend distinctive styles and eras in each of her homes extends to her ability to combine contrasting colours. It was, after all, close friend and renowned interior designer Jacques Grange who described Terry as “an extraordinary colourist” and it is no doubt this intrinsic understanding of colour and texture that has informed her passion for makeup artistry. In her lengthy and successful career, the BY TERRY founder has established herself in the industry as an architect of women’s beauty. Her bold vision coupled with her innovative approach is what has led her to be dubbed as the “Steve Jobs of the beauty world”.
