BY TERRY opened its first store in Paris in the historic Galerie Vero-Dodat, located in the 1st arrondissement, in 1997. Exactly 20 years later and the leading global cosmetics brand has refurbished its emporium and transformed it into an Art Deco-inspired world. Founder Terry de Gunzburg has spent much of her life collecting Art Deco furniture and objet d’art and therefore wanted her love of this particular period to be translated into her boutique. Guests are welcomed into the store via the graphic catwalk entrance designed by Terry, while inside, renowned interior designer Rodolphe Parente was given the task of transformed the impressive two-storey space. Pearl lacquered furniture is matched with marble accents in the signature By Terry purple shade, and the beautiful arched windows flood the store with natural light.
The pièce de résistance of the store is, of course, the collections themselves. From makeup and skincare and fragrance, the entire By Terry range can be found here. In the centre of the ground floor is where you’ll not fail to miss the Chromatheque – the high-tech, kaleidoscopic colour wheel presents every single BY TERRY haute couleur shade in the form of eyeshadows, lip glosses, mascaras and foundations.
"I created my pantone to enable every woman to put together her own custom-made palette, to find her perfect radiance-enhancing foundation, to invent her perfect rouge,” comments Terry. Virginie Février, a specialist in haute couleur who studied for ten years with the founder, is on hand to help customers find their perfect bespoke shades and create their own customised 'makeup wardrobe'.
The multisensory store also houses a beauty bar, an upstairs gallery filled with some of Terry’s most prized possessions – from Chinese cabinets that once adorned Mick Jagger’s room in Blake’s Hotel to 19th century Japanese screens – as well as a a private beauty treatment area.
We invite you to step inside Terry’s world of beauty, elegance, art and luxury.
