Beauty Trend A/W17: Heavy Liner

“I call it the glam-rock look because it's very glamorous, but in no way gothic,” comments our Head of Artistry Albane Laloy. At the A/W17 shows, makeup artists revamped the autumnal trend for smoky eyes and instead gave it more of a rock-chic feel, with models sporting dramatic smudged black eyeliner and clumpy mascara.

It can be worn any time, but according to Albane, it depends on whether you want to pair it with a full red lip or just a gloss. During the day, she recommends a gloss or a very sheer nude lipstick such as one of the new nude shades from the ROUGE-EXPERT line. Alternatively, the BY TERRY HYALURONIC SHEER ROUGE is perfect because it’s in-between a gloss and a lipstick. If you’re looking for more of a sheen, the GLOSS TERRYBLY SHINE is a great option because there are a variety of colours from which to choose, depending on whether you prefer pink, nude, or brown tones.

According to our Head of Artistry, your best friend when achieving this look – particularly if you want a more glamorous, sophisticated effect – is concealer, which will make the crucial difference as it will prevent you from looking as though you have dark circles under your eyes. For this, we love the new STYLO-EXPERT CLICK STICK, which allows for precise application thanks to its easy-to-use applicator, as well as offering full coverage and a velvety smooth finish.

After applying concealer, the next step to achieving this look is to outline the water line below the upper lashes and above the lower lashes. For this, Albane recommends BY TERRY’s CRAYON KOHL TERRYBLY, which smudges easily with the help of our PENCIL BRUSH. Next, apply OMBRE BLACKSTAR in No.1 Black Pearl onto eyelids or if you want to look really rock 'n’ roll, apply a small amount of brown or black eyeshadow and using the Pencil Brush again, smudge this gently to give a smoky finish.
