How to Create Natural, Minimalist Makeup
Beauty Coach: Natural Minimalism
Come autumn, it is not only time to refresh our wardrobes for the new season, but also our beauty routines. A minimalist, natural-looking beauty has been trending in the industry season after season and is once again a key look for A/W17.
However, this season the ‘pared-back’ trend took on a more sophisticated and flawless finish. BY TERRY’s Head of Artistry Albane’s approach is simple and can be applied effortlessly in the morning before work or the school run, and is guaranteed to last the whole day.
The first essential step is to prep the skin. “It is essential that your skin is always completely clean before you apply makeup,” says Albane. “If it is not properly cleansed, you won’t achieve the best results. Applying new makeup onto old makeup is a bit like painting on top of paint. It doesn’t work.” She therefore advises customers to use a micellar water or a toner, for instance BY TERRY’s Cellularose Micellar Water Cleanser or the Cellularose Hydra-Toner, both of which remove even the most stubborn makeup and impurities.
The next step is to apply a primer - an illuminating one is best, such as BY TERRY’s Cellularose Brightening CC Serum. “Our CC Serum is very good because it corrects just what needs to be corrected,” she comments. “It gives the complexion a flawless finish especially when used with a foundation, offering both correction and a natural glow.” For those of you with oily skin, Albane suggests a makeup-setting primer such as BY TERRY’s Hyaluronic Hydra-Primer, which will mattify shiny-prone areas of the face such as the T-zone and eyelids.
In the early stages of autumn, our Head of Artistry believes it isn’t necessary for to women to go for full coverage when it comes to their foundation. Instead, opt for lightweight coverage, which can be found in our Sheer-Expert foundation or our Light-Expert Click Brush.
Finally, complete the look with a highlighting blush such as the Glow-Expert Duo Stick in No.2 Terra Rosa, which gives the complexion a natural radiance. Either apply on the apples of the cheeks for a healthy look or for a more sophisticated, sculpted effect, apply the blush on the higher cheekbones.
